Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet community located in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think there is a separate island to the west of Montreal however, it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. The West Island is frequently referred to as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel was a woman of a certain age living in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. She was determined to be a professional dancer, but due to a rapid increase in her height, she outgrew all of her dancing partners. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. After I outgrew the male partners, I quit. Bruce was among the former dancers who shifted to acting. Her high school teacher school encouraged her to take the next step. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the school's annual production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. Over the past 20 years since Brugel has been offered roles in over 60 shows on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the role in the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in Season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
